Description
Favignana is the largest and most important among Egadi Islands. The island has two main ports: Cala Principale and Punta Longa.
Cala Principale has a round shape and consists of a north-western outer dock, the so-called S. Leonardo Dock, a main dock and Piazza Marina quay, specifically reserved for recreational boats.
The port of Cala Principale is characterized by a sandy-and-rocky sea bed with seaweeds. Yachtsmen are required to pay attention when approaching to the filling station since sea bottoms are just 3 metres deep. The port offers 100 berths, 30 of which are exclusively reserved for transiting boats.
The southern edge of "S.Leonardo Dock" offers berths for boats ranging from 15 up to 60 metres in length and with a maximum draft of 5.5 metres. All these berths are managed by the "Gruppo Ormeggiatori Isole Egadi".
The commercial quay, accessible from 19:30 to 07:30, can host boats up to 70 metres in length and with a maximum draft of 6 metres. 30 berths are specifically reserved for boats up to 20 metres in length.
The western side of the inner dock is reserved fo boats up to 7.5 metres in length. Finally, the quay of Piazzale Marina can host boats up to 7.5 metres.
Berths are managed by "La Darsena di Gigi" and the Marina di Favignana.
From April 1st to July 15th, it's the period of tuna fishing. During those weeks, yachstmen are required to pay attention to the signals of the tuna-fishing nets located close to the Piazzale Marina.
The port is equipped with a filling station open from 08:00 to 19:30.
Some berths are specifically reserved for military authorities while others, marked by yellow lines, are reserved for emergency means.
Services include drinkable water and electric charging columns, a slipway, a mobile crane, an open-air boat storage area, engine and electric repairs, repairs of wooden and fiberglass hulls, pilotage service, scuba divers, watchmen, toilets and showers, pay phones, a parking and waste collection.
Bars, restaurants, supermarkets and ice supply are availble in the surroundings.
